Afro-Pop Star Winnie Khumalo Passes Away

South African Afro-Pop star Winnie Khumalo has passed away after a short illness. She was 51 years old. 

Winnie Khumalo’s career dates back to the 80s when she worked closely with producer Chicco Thwala and Brenda Fassie for whom she sang backing vocals. 

Winnie dropped the hit single ‘Live My Life’ in 2008 after a long hiatus, reviving her career for the new era. 

The singer has been featured on a number of songs including the Brothers Of Peace hit ‘Bumper 2 Bumper’, ‘Wenze Kahle’ by Theo Kgosinkwe, ‘Electronic Maskandi’ by Black Motion, ‘We Baba’ by Oskido, Ngcongco Lo Mfazi’ by DJ Christos and many others. 

Winnie Khumalo is also the mother of singer Rethabile Khumalo who has dropped hits such as ‘Ntyilo Ntyilo’ and ‘Uvalo’. She’s also featured on Makhadzi’s ‘Anazi Lutho’. 

 Rest in peace to an icon.
