L-Tido’s 2015 Hit Single ‘Dlala Ka Yona’ Certified Triple Platinum

By @SeptemberEleven on 11/21/2024 in News

L-Tido’s 2015 single ‘Dlala Ka Yona’ achieved triple platinum status in August, but the Alex rap OG only recently shared it with his fans on Instagram.

‘Dlala Ka Yona’ is one of L-Tido’s biggest hits and one of the era-defining songs from the mid-2000s. The song references the Kwaito group New School’s hit of the same name. In that era, rappers sampled and referenced Kwaito hits in a move that saw SA Hip-Hop reach its peak.

Produced by super producer Tweezy, ‘Dlala Ka Yona’ was built on a catchy chord progression that further solidified the producer as one of the best to ever do it.

‘Dlala Ka Yona’ was further elevated by the visuals which have surpassed 2 million views on YouTube. The visuals, which had cameos from the likes of Kwesta, Speedsta, Kid X, Londie London and a lot more, also featured Pulane Lenkoe whose Twitter account blew up after her nudes were unfortunately leaked.

At some point, the ‘Dlala Ka Yona’ music was rejected by TV channels for its racy nature.
