Apple Music has released this month’s Africa Now DJ Mix featuring South African Afro-house DJ and entrepreneur, DJ Zinhle who has cemented her spot as Africa’s number-one DJ for the last four years while expanding her brand into multiple areas of business.
“I’m excited to be doing another mix with some of my favourite tracks for the season,” she tells Apple Music. “Working with Apple Music and having them share this mix globally always feels good, especially knowing that people in every corner of the world can hear some of Africa’s finest tunes. A female touch on the mix is always a good thing. Enjoy it!”
DJ Zinhle's entry into the world of DJing came by chance after she played her first public gig when a billed DJ failed to show up on time. Working her way into the limelight as a resident DJ on the SABC 1 dance show Jika Majika in 2006, Zinhle became one of the few women DJs in the SA mainstream at the time.
Deeply immersed in dance and house music, Zinhle released her first compilation, 'Feminine Touch' (Mixed By DJ Zinhle) (2009) in the same year that she opened an academy dedicated to women DJs and producers. Cementing her spot as a respected player in the industry with viral hits like 'Umlilo' (2019) and 'Indlovu' (2020), DJ Zinhle is a powerhouse whose contribution to the electronic dance scene cannot be understated.
