Last night, minister of police of South Africa, Bheki Cele and police commissioner, Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi held a press briefing on eNCA to discuss the new developments on the AKA and Tibz murder case.
The two were fatally shot on February 10th on Florida Road in Durban.
According to the lieutenant, the police began making arrests for the case that date as far back as April 2023. A second arrest was made on October 24th and another on December 14th. Two were made this past Saturday in eSwatini.
The investigations revealed that AKA had been followed from the time he arrived at King Shaka International airport, to his hotel, and then to Wish restaurant where he was later gunned down. They revealed that Tibz got caught in the crossfire and was not meant to get shot.
Those held in custody include two shooters, two spotters, the alleged co-ordinator and the person who organised the getaway vehicles and guns. A seventh suspect is currently still on the run.
