South African Afro Pop and R&B singer, Nobuhle has teamed up with South American indie singer-songwriter, Karla Grunewaldt, for the remix of the single. ‘Luz’.
Orignally written in Spanish. Nobuhle adds her spice with an isiZulu verse while switching between isiZulu and Spanish.
The announcement for the single came after the World Of Music & Dance Festival (WOMAD) South Africa, 2022.
WOMAD an assembled, eclectic and quality-driven mix of global musical talent invited musicians to the South African stages alight, to exchange cultures in music and artists including some of Africa’s finest performers, (Tresor (DRC); AfricanJazz Pioneers and The Mahotella Queens (SA); Karla Grunewaldt (Chile); Kristina Jacobsen (US) and many more.
This year, WOMAD is taking place in South America-Chile on the 1st of April 2023 where Nobuhle is set to travel to South America to showcase her musical work including the ‘Luz’ collaboration. Ahead of her long-awaited album set to release in June.
'Luz' is about singing pop indie Karla Grunewaldt and Nobuhle turn darkness into light and it is a perfectly crafted artsy pop record built with epic production and layered vocals. But underneath the beats are gems of lyrics, poetic liners with a message to inspire and encourage listeners that there will be light again.
Nobuhle said she is so proud and excited about the collaboration and to meet the Spanish pop singer in person and create the 'Luz'. Nobuhle is set to travel to Chile while touring South America.
“Recording the track was a wonderful experience. I love the Karla Grunewaldt production team. Meeting Karla in person was also great. We were able to go jam during the WOMAD festival, which brought Karla and I closer in learning our sounds and fusing them,” she said.
