RiSA has announced that it will be launching South Africa's first official streaming charts. The charts will aggregate data from Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer. The site will have a Weekly TOP 200 Tracks, which will have the top 200 tracks streamed in South Africa. This chart will include both local and international music. The Top 100 Local ZA Tracks will only include tracks where at least one South African artist is credited. The charts will count streams from Friday to Thursday. Having an official chart based solely on streams will allow us to get a better picture of the type of music that South Africans consume.
