I've said it once and I'll say it again for the people at the back, there's nothing stopping The Wrecking Crew government. Through the past few months, we've received a slew of visuals, projects, as well as new tour dates from the gang and there seems to be no indication of slowing down as Baby Boy, A-Reece, also drops off something of his own, a surprise EP!
Dubbed And I'm Only 21, the 5 track project had been somewhat of a secret kept from the general public with the wreckers only sharing what at first appeared to be random dates and quotes. Confirmation of something new on the horizon later came in the form of a tracklist artwork before A-Reece officially released his new project to the world peaking on Apple Music's top 10 most purchased musical pieces. The project's opener, Take Care Of Your Heart, also rose to number 11 of the hip hop/rap chart and for good reason too, it's a brilliant piece of work. Here, Reece goes back and forth between his melodies and raps while reflecting on the consequences of making it to the top of the rap pyramid. It's laced with a sombre instrumental which fundamentally sets the tone of what to expect on And I'm Only 21. In the project, Reece speaks of his team's regular wins as well as his frequent encounters with the ladies which, taken from his lyrics, almost always seem to lead them to the bedroom - that sly devil!
A song which definitely stood out for me, and is also the most introspective of the bunch, has to be To The Top Please. One thing's for sure that not everybody possesses the lyrical capabilities of going up against Baby Boy's immaculate pen game and he stresses this narrative with the line, "Still fear no man, these verses got them murdered than a bloodbath." He also mentions in the song that whenever he releases something new, it feels like a come-back and his latest offering is, as he affirms, "up there where the sun is."
