Norway-based Namibian rapper and “creative technologist” Mushiva has dropped his long-promised debut album ‘Turbo Summation’ and it’s a sonical and lyrical treat.
Taking inspiration from cyber punk flicks as seen in the visuals, the project is a coherent collection of geeky backpack rap joints that are tied together by themes of technology and science fiction.
Sonically, the album is boom bap that makes use of 80s-reminiscent synth and bass.
‘Turbo Summation’ is more than an album, however, as it’s accompanied by a short film and a wearable HIp-Hop instrument, “the Hip-Hop Power Glove”, invented by Mushiva as part of his academic research for a Physical Computing course he took at the Berlin-based creative technology organisation School of Machines, Making and Make-Believe.
