This track features the powerful vocal talents of Something Soweto and Shasha, as well as the skillful production of Mas Musiq. The release of ‘10K Yey’nkomo’ comes ahead of Aymos' forthcoming album ‘Impilo’.
The song beautifully captures the essence of lobola negotiations, portraying the deep cultural significance and emotional journey of a man who must gather resources to show appreciation to his partner's family.
Opening the song, Aymos sings, “10 000 yey’nkomo letha ivula mlomo ngayikhipha iphelele zonke yikukumele, mina ngathatha iskweleti ngaqokelela amasheleni thumela abo ankela bayothumela amasheleni.” His heartfelt lyrics set the tone for a song that is as culturally rich as it is musically engaging.
Something Soweto brings his signature vocal range to the track, adding depth and emotion with the line, “Awu thando lwakho lundishaya 10 000, awu ngaba yhini hiyo ngikuthanda and ngikufuna kanje.” The blend of melodies from Aymos, Something Soweto, and Shasha, alongside the production magic of Mas Musiq, results in a seamless fusion of sounds that is sure to be a hit.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Aymos shared, “I am constantly grateful for the opportunity to work with such incredible talents like Something Soweto, Shasha, and Mas Musiq. The inspiration behind 10K comes from witnessing the joy and excitement in my family during lobola negotiations leading to a cultural wedding. This is the beauty of life, and that’s why my upcoming album is titled Impilo.”
Impilo is set to release on 30 August 2024, with the official album launch will be held on 9 November 2024 at Emperors Palace.
