Endowed singer-songwriter, Aubrey Qwana is back with a new single titled ‘X2’.
‘X2 ‘(pronounced; times two) is an Afro pop heartbreak anthem, which takes you on a sonic adventure. The song features the acclaimed Sotho artist, Malome Vector. He sets his verse ablaze with his famous unique rap flow in Sesotho, which is a beautiful contrast to the rest of the song that is in isiZulu.
This is Aubrey Qwana's contribution to the Afro pop genre in South Africa; a celebration of both African culture and music.
When talking about creating this song, during a heart-to-heart with his fans on social media", Aubrey says, “…x2 is a true story, a very personal and sensitive song. I always say I treat my music as my own personal diary, I write how I feel and I sing about what I’m going through currently".
He goes on to delve into the intricacies of a love story that ended somberly, discussing the lessons he gleaned from that experience. This is what the song is about, and he has articulated it, in the way he knows best, through song and melody.
The song already has an open verse challenge on social media, with verse submissions ranging from Afro pop, Hip-hop to traditional music.
