Speaking about the new single, Yanga Chief said; “Mbali Yam is a song I first performed many years ago on JRs FeelGoodLive Sessions. Every year that went past it just felt too personal for me to release it publicly. My mom has been the only person who’s love I can consistently rely on no matter what. She has allowed me to chase my dreams and never once judged me for my mistakes. She defines love. I hope this song encourages mothers all over the world to keep loving their children everyday. A mother’s love is irreplaceable and lives on in her children. To those whose mothers are no longer here I hope this song reminds you that’s she’s watching over you. Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers in the world.”
‘IMVELAPHI’ is a testament to Yanga Chief's growth both as an artist and as an individual. Each track on the EP serves as a reflection of the experiences and influences that have shaped Yanga into the artist he is today. From the streets of his hometown to the challenges he has overcome, ‘IMVELAPHI’ offers listeners a glimpse into Yanga Chief's journey and showcases his evolution as an artist.
