Rising star, Makhosi teams up with Blaq Diamond also known as UMUTHI of Umuthi Othi Thi Records to release his latest single ‘Hello My Baby (Sondela)’.
In the era of TikTok, Makhosi seized the opportunity to showcase his talent through open-verse challenges and covers of popular local songs. His rendition of Blaq Diamond’s hit track, ‘Qoma,’ caught the attention of Ndu Browns, a member of the duo.
Signed to Umuthi Records in 2023, Makhosi has since unveiled his debut single, ‘Buya,’ in collaboration with fellow Umuthi artist, Mawelele, which performed very well on the charts and received high rotation on major radio stations, which set the tone for this upcoming single 'Hello My Baby’.
Following Blaq Diamond's departure from Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2021, the duo established their own record label, Umuthi Othi Thi.
Under the umbrella of Gallo Remixed, Blaq Diamond, also known as Umuthi, has joined forces with Makhosi, who is signed to their label, Umuthi Othi Thi Records. Their collaboration resulted in a beautiful remake of Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s timeless single, ‘Hello My Baby,’ featuring the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi.
Paying homage to their hometown legends and multiple Grammy-award-winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the duo Blaq Diamond aims to foster new talent through their independent label, providing opportunities for emerging artists like Makhosi.
