Portshepstone-born songwriter, musician, and all-round music composer, Senzo Michael Junior Shazi better known as Senzo Afrika has once again teamed up with Mlindo The Vocalist on a soulful and sweet-toned song titled, ‘Unathi Dlozi Lami.’
Initially, he released ‘Unathi Dlozi Lami’ and performed it at a festival in 2019. He then later met his partner in the song, Mlindo The Vocalist to create a more refined, complete and FULL OF SOUL track.
The song begins with Senzo setting the tone by coming in with soothing vernacular lyrics that are reminiscent of tough times that he’s overcome through the presence of a power bigger than him.
His voice and cadence smoothly ride over an electric guitar and synth further pushing the build-up for the hook ‘Unathi Dlozi Lami’ and for Mlindo The Vocalist to slide in with his ever-unique vocal range we’ve grown to love.
Through his soulful voice, cry, and melodic take, Mlindo also recounts his childhood hardships whilst giving thanks to the higher power that helped him. The beat dies down, allowing for suspense, emotion and calm before he and Senzo do a seamless and smooth interchange verse by sharing bars.
‘Unathi Dlozi Lami’, a phrase that resonates with patriotic South Africans, is now an emotional anthem of gratitude, it is reminiscent, and an all-around collaborative effort.
