Cassper Nyovest depicts an inspirational story in the visuals for his latest single in collaboration with Sprite Limelight, ‘Soul’ featuring Ryan Tedder.
The music video captures a young boy who tells the tale of Cassper’s journey to success. The story begins when the boy embarks on a long trip from Mafikeng to Johannesburg where his upward trajectory is portrayed from penning his lyrics in a full house to performing his songs to crowds.
What gives the song its essence is the sense of individuality that it evokes. The music video for ‘Soul’ has a reoccurring theme of solitude. This is seen in scenes such as when Cassper raps his verse alone in his room to the young boy who is reciting his verses to himself using the bathroom mirror.
Towards the end, Cassper locks eyes with the young boy. Given context from the song, this is a significant part of the music video where Cassper sees himself in the young boy who struggles daily but remains determined to succeed because he went through the same thing.
Last month, Cassper took to socials to announce his collaboration with Sprite Limelight after they had approached him to make a record of which then led to the creation of 'Soul'.
