Afrobeats Veteran Wande Coal Drops New Album ‘Legend Or No Legend’ Ft. T-Pain, Wizkid, Olamide + More

By @SeptemberEleven on 05/19/2023 in Projects You Should Hear

Nigerian Afrobeats pioneer Wande Coal is back with a new album, aptly titled ‘Legend Or No Legend’.

The album features US Hip-Hop/R&B star T-Pain and Nigerian stars such as Wizkid, Fireboy DML and Olamide.

Kel P produced a majority of the songs on the project, including the Wizkid and T-Pain collabos, ‘Streets’ and ‘Ebelebe’. DUNNI, Dream, Bruno and Screwface among a few others handle the rest.

Wande Coal is one of the longest serving soldiers of the Afrobeats movement who were at the forefront of the genre before it even got international recognition. On ‘Legend Or No Legend’, he proves he still has it as he seamlessly collaborates with new talent and experiments with fresh sounds without necessarily alienating old fans.

“Music is universal and everybody knows I’m a sound man,” wande Coals told Apple Music on the album’s liner notes. “It has to be about the sound—then I can fix my African dialect into it. One thing about me is I’ll always blend, so I don’t discriminate—I’ll pick what I want and add it to my sound.”
