Watch The Official Trailer For AKA’s ‘Mass Country’

After premiering it at AKA’s memorial service last week Friday, AKA’s family has shared the official trailer for ‘Mass Country’.  

The clip shows snippets from AKA’s journey including old interviews, performances, moments with the likes of Costa Titch, Da L.E.S, Burna Boy, his production team and more. 

Soundtracking the clip is a song that sounds like the intro of the album. A high-pitch synth that could be from Pop icon Prince’s 1982 album ‘1999’ and an old school Maskandi bass guitar riff reminiscent of Busi Mhlongo play alongside each other as AKA croons in autotune and later raps, “This the wall of Jericho, we sitting on your neck/ Mega, it’s a miracle, you came back from the dead.” The diversity in sound on the track speaks to the concept of ‘Mass Country’. 

The trailer is part of the ‘Mass Country’ digital rollout which AKA’s team revealed during the memorial service he had worked very hard on. So far, four songs from the 14-track album have been released, with the last one being ‘Company’ which features Nigerian producer and artist KDDO who he worked with on ‘Fela In Versace’. 

‘Mass Country’ is out this Friday, the 24th of February.
