Earlier today, Sjava gifted fans by announcing a live medley for his latest album, ‘Isibuko’ as show of appreciation for their love and support. In this live medley, Sjava performs some fan-favourites from the album which include, Thixo, Grounding, Amavaka and Amanxeba.
Sjava explains the inspiration behind each song before delivering a soothing acoustic performance. There is a bigger mirror placed along the wall which symbolises the meaning of the album title. Sjava is the focal point in a candescent setting, as he performs the songs while seated in a dark room, surrounded with candles thatare placed above pieces from a broken mirror. The visuals are filmed and recorded at Burning Bush Studios.
Thixo
Sjava opens the live medley with the first single off of the album titled, ‘Thixo’.
“’Thixo’ is a song about a man who asks himself whether God will remember him for all the good he's done on Earth as you know we tend to follow the wrong crowd”, he explains.
Grounding
This is a song about taking a wife and Sjava explains that he named it 'Grounding' because the original song was done by Delayde and he had seen it on YouTube. Thereafter, he freestyled on it on IG live, and people received it well. This then resulted in him turning it into a full song.
Amavaka
"It's a song where you find yourself looking into the mirror and see a failure and feel like you’re not succeeding in everything you do.... only to find that you're actually on the right track."
Sjava goes on to emphasize the meaning behind the song by selecting a piece from his broken mirror to demonstrate what he is talking about in the song which is pretty self-explanatory. He then starts singing to his reflection.
Amanxeba
'Amanxeba' is a song that speaks about many things according to Sjava, who touches mainly on the topic of 'Love Scars'. This topic could refer to someone you loved, losing someone close, whether it was a friend or a family member, and forgetting about the good times you endured together.
