K.Keed is on a winning streak this year. The Cape Town-born rapper continues to showcase her strong work ethic through her consistency in dropping new music, as well as continuing her upward trajectory in her career.
Her latest project, ’Tx3 II’, a sequel to 2021’s ‘Tx3’, comes with three fire tracks that see K.Keed having fun with her craft and is joined by Tembipowers and Lookatups on the song ‘Cage’.
’TxC’ stands for ’To The Top’ which is where K.Keed is definitely headed. She currently has the highest monthly streams on Spotify owing to being featured on ‘Spin The Globe’, an album by popular Canadian rapper Connor Price who’s huge on TikTok.
Below, K.Keed breaks down the inspiration behind ’Tx3 II’, details the experience of working with Connor Price and more.

You mentioned that your new project is inspired by the idea of disorder. What does that mean in your life and career?
Through my reality as an individual. I’m from the hood, I grew up in the hood and there’s a lot going on in the hood. You see a lot of chaotic stuff, a lot of violence, a lot of things. And, in my life in general, there’s a lot going on, so I tend to get really overwhelmed by many experiences, so when anything and everything is going on simultaneously, I like to use that as inspiration. Whether it’s my experience or my reality in that moment, I take that and try use it as inspiration to create something beautiful. This allows me to always stay in a creative space, expanding my thoughts. People tend to respond differently when it comes to chaos, disorder and dysfunction. I feel like it was important for me to find a loophole within all of that. To choose to say, “I’m seeing a beautiful picture in this whole craziness and chaos”. I’m choosing to see something beautiful so I’m gonna create something beautiful.
How did it feel to be brought out by Dee Koala on the main stage at Cotton Fest?
When Dee brought me on stage, that was beautiful because Dee and I are friends, she’s a dope person. We made a hit in [2021], so it was only right that we actually get to perform it on the main stage. We get to give people that experience, that was pretty dope. I felt honoured and inspired that I got that opportunity to be up there amongst the greatest. That was one of my highlights at Cotton stage.
What was the process of working with Connor Price and how was the experience?
I wasn’t aware of Connor and where he was from and what he was doing until TikTok. I had come across one of his videos. I just saw his videos and continued with my life like I always do, so when he hit me up in the DMs, that was monumental for me. I had just seen his TikTok and now he’s hitting me up, that was such a blessing for me I’m not gonna lie.
Apart from boosting your streams, what did collaborating with Connor Price do for your career?
It taught me a lot about marketing and just taking your career to another level in terms of your creative process and how to push your music to be out there.
This algorithm that he’s using is working for him, so he showed me that you need to have strategies, be smart and have timing with your music and career. You need to have different tactics to approach social media, how to stay in touch with your audience and how the times are moving right now. I was definitely down because this was an opportunity for me to work with someone who’s outside of the country, who has other influences, so I took that opportunity to shine within that moment.
What can we look out for from K.Keed this 2023?
I’m a firm believer in manifesting, but I’m also a firm believer in not jinxing my success. A lot is gonna be happening this year in terms of music. You guys are gonna see a lot from me, from big names too but I don’t wanna talk too much about that because I don’t wanna jinx it.
Just expect a whole new musical experience from me. I just hope that people don’t box me into a certain title when it comes to music and the genre that I choose to experience and get to tap into this year.
