Ex Global has finally opened up about the numerous situations he has gone through in his latest body of work 'Relationships, Rumours & Sacrifices'. Each song is a representation of certain situations; for instance, 'Child's Play' touches on old friends that he sacrificed for but received no reciprocation from. 'Adam & Eve' speaks of heartbreak; he raps, “She gave me a heart and I am keeping it cold.”
On’ Relationships, Rumours & Sacrifices’ Ex Global showcases his vulnerable side, something he rarely does. He speaks from the heart about various issues such as betrayal, heartbreak and trust issues. This allows the album to be relatable to many.
In the interview below, Ex Global discusses the release of the project, breaks down the title and his reunion with Flvme.
What led to the delay of the album release?
What led to the delay of the project was because I was in talks with two labels at the time. One label I wasn't happy with the deal so I stopped following up and the other label was not prioritising me so I ended up prioritising myself and dropping the project independently.
Break down the title of the album.
‘Relationships, Rumors & Sacrifices’ title: all the agony, the sacrifices and pain endured in the past. Sacrifices: blood stains and roses scattered are the connections and relationships I've lost. Rumours: all the things I have heard about me that never represented who I am or what I have been through. Most of the time I'm not given my flowers for what I have done because I never talk on it.
You speak on friends you haven't seen in four years on the song, 'Child's Play'. Who are those people and is there room for mending things with those people?
On ‘Child's Play’, I speak on friends that I sacrificed for and expected myself from them. These people are people I grew up around before I joined The Wrecking Crew.
How did you and Flvme reunite and can we expect work from the two of you this year?
Flvme and myself started bumping into each other at shows, I bumped into him at one of Blxckie's shows at Mint and I approached him. We got to talk for like an hour.
