Dialed in after its name’s sake, the Zoo-files serve as a body of work commemorating the 6 the project to be released by Boy Wonder. Initially intended as a sequel to his previous offering “VICES”, The Zoo-files were compiled after Boy Wonder put together a collection of beats accumulated over the years from producer and long-time collaborator Zoocci Coke Dope. The project is concise and intentional in its distillation of street life slotting well into an era of Instagram stunting and renewed vigor for independent artists. It boasts seven songs and features some very familiar names such as; Thibe da King, Sneenah, Jay Jody and Saueri Chomothi.
Boy Wonder trades elaborate wordplay for exposition and blunt force in this body of work, he is most efficient in delivery and transcription of his message vexed by familiar subject matter and tone. It’s laced with dark layers, trap rhythms and a tight eerie atmosphere courtesy of production from Zoocci. The decision to name the project after the producer was an easy one as it commemorates the pair’s long-term partnership. Their signature sound is sonically signed by their musical DNA to be able to go to different places and make it sound like it belongs.
This is The Zoo-files.
