ThandoNje recently released her "Stillness." album and we knew it was going to be an introspective album from the lead single, "Searching". I love the concept of finding stillness through sound. Often music is used as a tool to distract oneself or as an instrument to express intense emotions. Not to say that there isn't any music out there that brings about feelings of tranquillity and introspection but I don't personally come across many artists who create music to look inward. The album is filled with instrumentation that feels distant and 'airy', and ThandoNje's vocals have the same quality. The album feels like there is 'space' for the listener to think. We get to explore issues of self-discovery and love with ThandoNje serving as the soundboard to our inner thoughts.
