Am I the only one that thinks of Jam Alley when I hear middle centre? Surely not. Makhalanjalo's latest single "Middle Center" sees him continue the precedent he set on his last single, "Thand'izinto". The song is heavily inspired by kwaito and although he admits that he is 'not attempting to return to a time he never belonged to', he certainly sounds comfortable in the genre. Genres like Kwaito are deceiving in the sense that they don't seem complex but you can very easily come across disingenuous. For that reason, I commend Makhalanjalo for his genuine approach and appreciation for the iconic sound.
