@ukh0na Lets Us Into His Head With 'CABIN TALE' EP

Ukhona is someone that you probably haven't heard of but he is someone that I foresee becoming part of the scene in the future. Artists that make the sort of music that is comparable with CABIN TALE used to be a big part of the underground scene a couple of years ago but it seems there is a new crop of artists flying the flag for this dark trap-infused alternative sound. The 3 track EP opens with the darkest of all 3 tracks in 'SEANCE(THE CALLING)'. What stood out about the song was the attention to detail in matching the title and the atmosphere of the song. The song is eery and melodic but the subject matter isn't completely lost in all of those vibes and I commend him for curating a feeling around the song. PALACE GUARDS is my favourite of all 3 songs it still maintains the dark mood of the EP but it incorporates strings which give the song a bit more tempo and brings a level of variation to the EP. I also love the switch up at the end paired with the poem Ukhona recites. It tied together the meaning of the EP. CABIN TALE is Ukhona's way of expressing himself and his overall mood during a time where we have been indoors more than ever. It's a sonic picture of how he's feeling and I appreciate that he made a concerted effort to make that clear in the sonic design of the songs and the cover art. Things like that point to him being a complete artist that cares for all of the elements that go into releasing a body of work.
