Let @Musicbymandae Introduce Himself With 'DO 2 MUCH'

By @Lesiba on 08/20/2021 in Projects You Should Hear

Mandae is someone that recently came onto my radar and upon first impression, I was impressed with his sound. I'm not sure what to call his sound but it's a mix of trap soul but it leans more on the trap end of the spectrum. I really love this sort of sound. It features production with a trap feel, coupled with really clean vocals however, artists tend to get it wrong in one aspect or another. Either something is off on the production or the vocals aren't at the level they're supposed to be. Mandae managed to bring everything together on 'DO 2 MUCH'. I think Mandae was at his best on 'Toxic' because he struck the perfect balance between sing and rapping. The production has the right amount of variety to bring out the best in Mandae. During the intense moments of the song, he lets his vocals shine and when the production takes a downtempo turn, he has the opportunity to go into a more rap pocket. The EP closes with the song 'Pull Up', which sees him talk about how his detractors didn't believe in him. I was particularly impressed with the vocal layering on this song and I hope to see him do more of this in his future work. I think the dark and slower production allows him to control the tempo of the song better in comparison to 'Operation'. Ultimately, I enjoy Mandae for the same reason I enjoy an artist like Tory Lanez, they both seem to deliver on a high level whether singing or rapping. Stream 'DO 2 MUCH' below.
