@sandrahhh__ debut EP 'For Real This Time'

By @Lesiba on 07/09/2021 in Projects You Should Hear

FTL Radio singer and songwriter Sandrahhh is probably someone you haven't heard of yet but her debut EP, 'For Real This Time' is appropriately titled as she announces herself on the scene. Leading up to the release of the EP, she released a freestyle titled '100m Meter Dash'. You would forgiven for thinking that she would be release a rap album.

'For Real This Time' opens up with the a smooth cinematic feel with the song 'Profits'. Sandrahhh proceeds to the ride the beat effortlessly with an infectious flow that is guaranteed to have singing along with her when she says "I just want the paper, I'm focused on profits". She delivers more of the same trap soul vibes on 'Put It Down', which is a personal favourite. On this song she really flexes her ability to come up with multiple flows and melodies that work seamlessly with the production, however Sandrahhh is far from a one dimensional artist.

On the 2am and Yolophonik assisted song, 'BigDawgCypher', she shows us that she is equally deft with the pen with her rapping "I go harder than the lines on a bit*ches eyebrows". The song is her way of showing us her more aggressive alter ego and not the jaded person we hear on 'Put It Down' but this still isn't where her penmanship is at its peak, she saved that for the last song on the EP. On the song 'Endtertained' she raps, 'I never leaeve my dlozi's out whenever I roll my spinach and that's the reason I'm protected and I can fly with no limits, get it". The whole song is laced with endless punchlines that see her touch on various aspects of her life and her current state of mind however, Sandrahhh is at her most vulnerable on 'Enzy's' Song. In a conversation I had with Sandrahhh, she said that Enzy is someone who had a big impact in her life and inspired her on a personal level.

That brings us to 'Doja Leaves' which was the lead single for the EP. The song encompasses everything that Sandrahhh has to offer in one song. She displays her vocal range whilst still giving us catchy melodies and a few punchlines to go with them. It was no surprise to see that the song was added to Apple Music's The New Mzansi playlist. Sandrahhh has all of the tools to be a successful artist and I hope you enjoy her EP as much I do.
