Three years ago, ShabZi Madallion released his most personal body of work through the project, SOUL. Now, following the success of his debut album Nomvula, ShabZi Madallion closes the year off with the sequel to this classic and fan favourite, SOUL.
Almost three years after the first instalment, SOUL 2 delivers the same introspective, heavy and gloomy energy fitting of the title. The project is 11 tracks lean and is well narrated by clips of Maya Angelou who provides precise anecdotes that give context for every mood and every song, SOUL 2 is a journey, a story in musical form. Features from Nandile Ndamase, Kyle McEvoy and Kimosabe brings a melodic feel to the projects and allows ShabZi to do what he does best. A variety of producers, which include BeatsxBlass, Nerd Beats, Tapecut, keep this project sonically cohesive and somewhat reminiscent of its predecessor. Make sure you listen to the mixtape below;
