@StiffPap Blends Hip-Hop & Electronic Music Effortlessly With #StiffPapRadio

Stiff Pap really made their mark on South African listeners with the release of "Dlala" in 2016. Their last project, Based On A Qho Story, dropped in collaboration with Red Bull. Comprised by Jakinda Mshindi Boya and Ayema Qampi, Stiff Pap also hold the title of the first act to grace the Afropunk Joburg stage. This month, they've debuted their latest musical offering, Stiff Pap Radio. 

True to its title, the composition of the EP includes sonic elements that harken back to times where all we had for music consumption was the radio. In line with their electronic sound, Stiff Pap Radio bears five tracks, with the single of the album, "Maradonna" featuring Simmysimmynya. Jakinda on production and Ayema on the primary vocal performance, is still a good duo, even in the presence of a featuring artist like SImmySimmyNya. 

The EP carries a powerful electronic bassline with excellent beat production that sounds even better live. Synthesized beats juxtaposing lyrics performed in indigenous languages further emphasize that sound and genre have no borders. Is Stiff Pap Radio hip-hop or electronic? Stiff Pap has done a good job of bending the two genres enough to offer up a project that exemplifies what listeners appreciate from both styles of music.
