@muziou Drops 'STIMELA SEGOLIDE' After @DEAD_93 Performance

Last night, Muzi teamed up with BANGY, the founder and designer behind, the streetwear label, DEAD, to kick off his 4-day mobile pop-up tour around the Gauteng region. Last night at the pop-up store, Muzi debuted his latest project STIMELA SEGOLIDE atop a customized DEAD x MUZI stretch taxi. 

The EP bears four tracks and clocks 11 minutes without any features. According to Muzi, his newest offering is a type of ode to the migrant mineworkers of Apartheid South Africa. Even with the current vibe of Muzi's sonic palette, listeners will note that the EP features the type of sounds that we associate with traditional music and the sounds of protest at times. This may have a lot to do with where Muzi says he drew inspiration. "Sonically it is heavily inspired by Mam’ Busi Mhlongo. The EP title [and] subject matter also pays homage to Bab’ Hugh Masekela’s STIMELA," Muzi explained in a post online.

The EP is a short trip around one's sonic memory. From the style of music that played in our grandparents' home, to the music that we have come to love as 21st century adults, STIMELA SEGOLIDE induces a type of euphoric nostalgia that everyone deserves to enjoy.
