“Thula,” an act of silence, the complete absence of sound. You may see what is happening around you, but you do not say a word. Thula! You are not in any position to talk or express your concerns, that luxury is set aside for those with a bigger bank account and those who know people in “higher places.” Thula! Hush, everything will be alright, this too shall pass and a better day will come. Thula! Touchline and Blaklez are sympathetic and consoling to the mother who has just lost her young son to murder. They are sympathetic to the motherland that is subjected to poor governance, violent crimes, and propaganda spread throughout. They are pitying the youth that is growing up in self-hate and inconsideration of their brother and sister. Bloodstains and misfortunes are what is left to deal with. However, we are better than that. Thula, can be transformed into sounds of freedom and justice, sounds of a joyful mother celebrating the life of her son. As a nation, we can get there. But we have a long way to go.
