@JColeNC's "Middle Child Explained In 5 Minutes

By @MisaNarrates on 02/28/2019 in Watch

J. Cole dropped visuals for “Middle Child” this week, and many were confused, to say the least. Cole’s pen is powerful, and the man has proven that since he came onto the hip-hop scene. The Roc Nation artist has long solidified his place in hip-hop, as an excellent lyricist, and a conscious rapper.

The music video for “Middle Child” only further contributes to his place in hip hop, for its messaging and metaphors. Visual literacy isn’t everyone’s forte, but the music video is laden with hidden meanings. What was likely the “weirdest” moment happened when a white women locked eyes with a black woman’s baby hair. Then, in a strange twist, the white woman purchases a black woman’s face at the grocery store. Some people got the meaning, while others were stumped and didn’t see the correlation. Check out the video below to make sense of everything!
