@KingSweetkid - Sugar Season 2: True Colours

By @Lenoir on 07/05/2018 in Projects You Should Hear

King SweetKid delivered on his promise a while back by dropping off his latest project, Sugar Season 2: True Colours and it's a burst of flavour. It follows SweetKid's Before The Sugar Season 2 project from last year which housed ten songs, including one of his most popular tracks titled Empty. True Colours is complete with fourteen songs, including a bonus track, ReUp, and only one guest feature from Dj TeeLes who assists on Yaya. Lost In The Sugar, which we had Sweetkid perform under the spotlight back in May is also found in this project.

The project opens with Sugar which SweetKid first released as a single in April and was received well by his supporters. It's followed by the smooth and introspective Breath Interlude which finds him rapping over an instrumental laced with drums, a piano, and hints of flutes. The moment My Fault starts to play, you're immediately drawn to the guitar solo in the beginning before SweetKid comes on to show his melodic raps off and puts Ratanda on the map. He continues his flex parade onto the following songs, Anyday, Finnese, and Buzzin but later dumbs it down and digs deep into his emotions for Better Off. Here, SweetKid talks about his self analysis and how he has realised that being by himself is better than being surrounded by fake people.

He goes on to speak more about his grind and hard work on Freedom, he also makes mention of how instead of giving his parents degrees, he gave them songs to listen to. He continues his story of achieving his dreams in a song titled Degrees where he talks about sharing stages with his idols, club hopping, and living the backstage life. Every girl knows the feeling of their dude messing up the relationship even after giving him multiple "second chances," this is the situation SweetKid finds himself in as he begs his lady to come back home, must be the cold weather speaking. The closing tracks, Yaya, ReUp, and B.W.T.D (B*%&es Want The D%ck) find the rapper in his element as he flexes his confidence while proving that he's one of the best young rappers around. King SweetKid has proved his authenticity in his music from time to time and True Colours shows just how much he stands out. Give the project a listen, it's enough to give you a sugar rush.
