@ThapeloTTP - Six A Side Mixtape

By @Lenoir on 06/11/2018 in Projects You Should Hear

TTP has been dropping projects for a while now gaining some recognition for his compilations over the years. Following up on his Hip Hop Sessions Volume 3, he gets into the soccer fever with his latest Six A Side Mixtape. We don't know if it's the FIFA World Cup but people are really in the spirit of football lately, last week saw Cassper Nyovest challenge L-Tido to a celebrity five-a-side match. The Six A Side Mixtape consists of some songs inspired by soccer like Dj Fanatic's Number 11 with Reason and Kwesta, which also happens to be the project's opening track. Right after Reason and Kwesta both rep both Katlehong, Xenlaii and Amarafleur teach us how to play. It's a bouncy tune and finds Xenlaii talking about hooking up with a girl but wants a "no strings attached" kind of relationship, letting her know that he's not a player but knows the game quite well.

Lindirhe later shares her story on Back Pack Dreams and talks about her hopes for the future as she travels through this rollercoaster called life. We're later treated to some Jazz vibes as we get a narration of what the black community is faced with in the words of Benvolio. Zikonde and Mr VIP then speak about another issue many people constantly have to deal with, coming to terms with an absent father either by his own choice or due to circumstances of having to work away from family. The project then closes with a smooth joint by Novel and he talks about the struggles of being an adult and working hard to live a comfortable life.

The Six A Side Mixtape is a build up to TTP's upcoming album, The Starting Line Up, in the works. All these soccer metaphors might just dribble you if you're not careful, give the project a listen and share your thoughts.
