We finally get to see the first chapter of Rouge's SAFTA-nominated short film, New Era Sessions, after having seen trailers in its support. A while back, the rapper went on her social media pages to spread love and tell people, especially women, to love themselves and not concentrate on what other people think about them - seemingly inspiring the title of the first chapter of the film, "Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?"
Graced by talents like Denise Zimba, Atandwa Kani, Cassius Davids and Fikile Kani, the visual opens with a book reading before moving to a one-on-one session between Rouge and her therapist. Throughout the video, we get to witness Rouge's impressive acting skills while some of the highlight songs from her album plays. The overall message, I believe, is about being comfortable in your skin. It's never easy accepting your flaws but with time, it gets easier to finally like what you see when you look in the mirror. Brilliant work!
