Executive producer of the Black Panther album, Kendrick Lamar, is sharing some music from the soundtrack ahead of its arrival next week. He, along with Top Dawg Entertainment have put the offering together and people are patiently waiting for it after he shared the tracklist which includes South African artists yesterday.
We get the last track on the soundtrack, Pray For Me, alongside The Weeknd which has a very intergalactic sound to it with some added afro-inspired elements in the drums and the moulded ululations. About four producers worked on this song and it has us wondering what each one contributed 'cause there are so many layers to the song. The Weeknd seems helpless in his chorus and verse before Kendrick Lamar jumps on with his usual dose of social commentary as he opens his verse with words of being in a constant fight. It definitely fits the level of magnitude and suspense that the Black Panther film has created (particularly for those of us who haven't seen it yet).
