We managed to squeeze into Toya Delazy's schedule and had a chat with her about how insanely swamped she's been lately since she was given an opportunity to become the new Powerpuff Girl. Since she came up, Toya has always stood out which has helped her grow to where she currently is. She spoke about how she's always followed her heart when making decisions, she's an out-of-the-box creative and her not doing what other people are doing is what drove more opportunities her way. You could say that separating from her first label might have been a blessing in disguise because the split helped her push further and build her career.
Toya later explained how Cartoon Network reached out to her about making a localised version of the Powerpuff Girls theme song, with that being a success they contacted her again about an opportunity of being the new Powerpull Girl, Bliss. This all happened while she was in London and she was able to go to the Cartoon Network studios to audition, a matter of being at the right place at the right time. I still can't believe there's an African Powerpuff, in her melanin glory and a killer turquoise weave. My girl will be slaying all of Townsville!
