Not so long ago we had Meg over for a sit in where she told us more about herself as well as her mixtape and looking out for shady deals. Fast-forward to today and the project is finally out for the public to lend an ear and vibe to. The Barkston Drive Mixtape features six tracks (all distinctively short) that helps one understand Meg a bit more, with the upbeat sounds of Lucid Dreaming to the slow tempo of the mixtape-titled track which happens to be one of my favourites, I'm also loving how Miss Mary was done. Anno (pronounced "I Know") has Meg asking why she's being slept on and swears that she will make it to the top with or without some people's assistance - reminds me of Youngsta's Came, Saw, Conquered which has a similar message. Empty Dinner Plates tells the story of not having anything and needing to grind in order to put some food on your plate while To My Younger Self, well the title speaks for itself - advising your young self about all the challenges of life. Meg doesn't sound like any other rapper right now and with the industry being largely male-dominated, her uniqueness will surely help her stand out from the rest.
